Press Release - In house Show Action

The much awaited Riders Lodge In House Annual Competition was held on the 18th-20th January 2008. Amidst the showery conditions on Saturday morning, the riders and their horses were ready to start the day with the first event on time at 8:00 am.

The wet weather condition did not dampen the spirit of the riders and the horses were quite happy with the cool weather. Over the weekend, there were 5 dressage classes, 2 show classes and 6 showjumping classes.

All rider participants rode on borrowed horses except for Becky Lanyon who rode her new horse, Mars. Riders were from as young as seven years to adults. Except for the show class, the juniors competed with seniors on equal terms.

Quite impressive was the maturity and resilience of the junior riders, a small tear here and there but overall were gracious in loss and victory. Medals and prizes were awarded for all placing... this show could be the richest show in prizes for an in house event!

Judges Gabrielle Tiong and Sally Drummond were very commendable as they painstakingly wrote constructive comments to help improve the participants riding skills.

What was very useful as well was the consultation with the judges after the first day using the actual video footage taken during the show. Such practice is usually only done for FEI World Dressage Challenge events, kudos to Riders Lodge!

Freestyle to Music demonstrations by the Riders Lodge instructors and students Tanja and Stephanie added an exciting flavour to the show!

Encouragement Award: Isabelle Stehle - she competed in the Preliminary Dressage 1.1 & 1.3 and for the first time in Novice Tests 2.1 & 2.3 as well as in the Gymkhana where she got reserve placing out of 21 riders. Well done!
