(August 5th- 7th 2005) For Horse Lovers Only – a holiday with a cause!
“Good horsemanship is a good horse-man relationship.” Teacher (Rick) and student (Asish) in an indepth conversation To the student horses, all of them completed the basic natural horsemanship lessons with distinction aside from Prince Azenie who was voted to be “the horse with the most potential” but needs to learn to respect humans more on the ground. At the end, all the students rode, the natural way, mounting the horse bareback with just head collar and a lead rope. Not bad for students…some were cantering away with single rein – don’t be surprised if you see a few lassos around on your next visit. The three days were hectic from sunrise to sunset…very educational theoretical discussions, slides, videos to watch and hand on demos. The graduates learned how to be in control of a horse …in different situations, how to desensitize your horse so the horse feels secured and confident in various surroundings. Basic techniques and hands on practice “on the ground” and “in the saddle”. Riders learned solutions to common problems like anxiety, head tossing, hyper activeness, insensitive, naughty, pulling, spooking, stubborn, tense, cantering too fast, disrespect, fearful, hard mouth, mounting difficulties the natural way.
